The DotAsia Board Elections 2016 was held between December 2015 and February 2016. Nominations were conducted electronically and according to the finalized Board Elections Procedures 2016, which was drafted based on DotAsia’s Memorandum & Articles of Incorporation . A first draft of the Board Elections Procedures was posted on Nov 11, 2015, and a finalized Board Elections Procedures was published on Nov 30, 2015.
The nominations period commenced on Dec 2, 2015 and concluded on Jan 6, 2016. Based on the nomination status as of Jan 6, 2016, the Geographic Diversity Requirement for Sponsor Members was not met as no nominee was from the Australasia and Pacific sub-region in the Sponsor Member category. Thereupon, following the process in the Board Elections Procedures, section 2.4 Geographical Diversity Requirement (last paragraph):
Observing that one of the nominees from the Co-Sponsor Members, Maureen Hilyard, is from the Australasia and Pacific sub-region and would meet the requirement, the Board thereupon made the suggestion and the Sponsor Members henceforth nominated and seconded Maureen Hilyard to become a nominee in the Sponsor Member category.
The final results of the nominations are posted below.
The voting period was scheduled to commence on Jan 20, 2016 and conclude on Feb 3, 2016. However since the number of candidates standing for election in each member category is equal to the number of vacancies in that category, no voting was conducted, and the election results are posted below.
