As one of the oldest film festivals in Asia, with the first HKIFF held in the summer of 1977, the global reputation of the HKIFF was built on the pioneering work of programming Asian films and its retrospectives when Asian and Hong Kong cinema were not well known to the international community. Drawn together with a shared vision for bringing Asia to the world, since 2009, DotAsia has partnered with the HKIFF Society on various projects including the www.hkiffshop.asia. The HKIFFS organizes three annual flagship events in March and April: The Hong Kong International Film Festival (HKIFF), the Hong Kong-Asia Film Financing Forum (HAF) and the Asian Film Awards (AFA: www.asianfilmawards.asia). Passionately believing in the power of films to unite cultures and generations, the HKIFFS is devoted to giving thousands of film lovers around the region direct access to the world’s most inspired films all year round.
