DotAsia coordinates, supports and organizes different Member and community activities, including meetings, trainings, workshops, social events and discussions at physical and digital spaces. The objective of this Code of Conduct is to ensure a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment that engenders mutual respect and trust.

This Code of Conduct explains the expected standards of behaviour for anyone participating in these activities, including DotAsia Board, Advisory Council, committees, staff, speakers, guests, commenters, observers and all participants involved, and applies to onsite participants, online meetings and digital spaces.

Expected Behaviour

It is expected that participants behave properly and positively at all times: showing respect and courtesy to others; treating participants with equity irrespective of background; act fairly, professionally and in good faith with other participants; declare any statement or conflict of interests clearly; and, promote ethical and responsible behaviours in aa responsible and principled way.

We expect DotAsia in-person meetings, virtual meetings, hybrid meetings, mailing lists discussions, digital spaces, etc. to be respectful, harassment-free environments for all participants. Participants are expected to act in a reasonable, objective and informed manner in decision-making processes, listen to the views of all stakeholders and work to build consensus, protecting and advancing the interests of DotAsia in the wider context of the Asia Pacific and global Internet community.

Unacceptable Behaviour

We hope that all participants feel welcome and comfortable to participate fully, therefore we are committed to providing an environment free of unacceptable behaviours, including: discrimination based on any personal background, gender, religion, culture, etc.; harassment of any kind, including offensive speech, threats, demands, etc.; propagating misinformation, disinformation, false or misleading information; corrupt behaviours such as return of favour in elections; and, other misbehaviours, antisocial acts and disturbances to others or to proceedings at DotAsia activities.

Board Directors and Members of Governance Bodies

The Code of Conduct applies also to DotAsia Board, Staff and Governance bodies, including Board and committee meetings, especially in the matters of fiduciary duties, confidentiality requirements, conflict of interest, undue solicitation and acceptance of advantages, above and beyond the expected standards of behaviours of general participants at DotAsia activities.

This Code of Conduct is intended to foster a culture of ethical behaviour, honesty and accountability, deter wrongdoing and promote fair and accurate disclosure and reporting.

Consequences

Anyone requested to stop unacceptable behavior is expected to comply immediately. Unacceptable behaviour by any participant, including those with decision-making authority, will not be tolerated. DotAsia or its designee(s), or security may take any action deemed necessary and appropriate, including immediate removal of persons or comments violating the Code of Conduct from the meeting or digital space without warning.

Further remedies on violation of the Code of Conduct may include request for a public or private apology, private or public reprimand, temporary or permanent ban from DotAsia spaces. Serious breaches of this Code of Conduct may be cause for disciplinary action, including termination of appointment or membership.

DotAsia issues Technical Coalition Joint Statement on Global Digital Compact process concerns

DotAsia joins other members of the Technical Community Coalition for Multistakeholderism (TCCM) in issuing a statement on the Global Digital Compact process and potential outcomes. Throughout the stakeholder consultations for the various revisions of the Global Digital Compact, there have been repeated and continued calls to increase the transparency, openness and meaningful global participation of all interested stakeholders.
